StadtLABOR – Innovationen für urbane Lebensqualität GmbH is a private enterprise for (applied) research, innovation and knowledge transfer in the field of sustainable, smart cities. The core activities are the design and implementation of urban transformation processes on neighbourhood and district level fostering an interdisciplinary, creative and experimental approach. Following the principles of open innovation, design thinking, living labs or tactical urbanism these cooperative processes lead to integrated and more innovative urban development concepts for new districts or neighbourhoods.

Capacity building, knowledge sharing, evaluation, awareness raising and dissemination activities to the topic of sustainable and smart cities are another core business of StadtLABOR.
